Mount Cinnamon

Grenada, Caribbean

Virgin rating

The hotel

This little hamlet of hideaways creeps up the lush hillside from Grand Anse Beach, one of Grenada’s most sought-after shores. Subtle and sophisticated, its 37 luxurious villas and suites are capped with terracotta roofs and dressed in soothing beach chic décor – but each has a pop of ‘seaside sunshine’ in homage to your Caribbean setting (if your stunning sea view isn’t enough). The chic pool follows suit, with wooden furniture in vibrant colours, while the beach brings calm with its rattan love seats, beachside spa treatments and yoga, complimentary non-motorised water sports, and Beach Cabana restaurant, serving grilled lunches steps from the turquoise waters. Many villas have their own kitchen, but most head to Savvy’s for dinner anyway, where produce from Mount Cinnamon Hotel & Beach Club’s garden and nearby plantations confirm its status as a leading eco-lodge.

What a beautiful place! My husband, our two adult daughters, and I stayed for five nights in April in a two-bedroom villa. When we arrived in the afternoon from NY, tired and hot, we were greeted with cool damp towels and a complimentary rum punch by Garrett, who is the best host I have ever come across in all my travels! He always remembered all of our names throughout our stay, and just made us feel so welcome. Special thanks to him! As others have mentioned, the resort is indeed built into a hill, so yes, it is a very steep climb up (and down - my poor knees!) to the villas, more than I thought it was going to be, based on other reviews. If you have mobility issues, this might not be the place for you. But a shuttle van was never more than a few minutes wait when we called the desk asking for a ride up to our room. They picked us up from the Beach Cabana restaurant too. Many thanks to all our drivers! Our villa was two levels, with the master bedroom/bathroom and a laundry room on the lower level, and the other bedroom (which had two twin beds), another full bathroom, kitchen, and living room on the upper level. Both levels had a beautiful balcony with gorgeous views. The rooms were lovely, the beds among the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Housekeeping was sometimes a bit haphazard - for instance, not replacing the hand soap bar that was down to a little nub until we asked for a new one. The upper bathroom's water never got hot, just sort of room temp., and the toiletries that were in the bathrooms definitely need to be replaced. But other than that, everything was fine, down to the delicious, just-baked cookies that were delivered to our villa each evening. The beach was a 7-8 minute walk from the villa, and is stunning. Warm, clear, calm water, with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas to be had. I loved setting ours up under the palm or sea grape trees. Very private too, just the guests of the hotel seemed to be there, as this is located at the uncrowded southern end of Grand Anse Beach. I only saw beach vendors walk by twice, and if you weren't interested in their wares, they just moved on with a smile. The Beach Cabana is a handy spot for a delicious lunch and/or a drink. The breakfast, which was included with our villa, had a nice assortment at the buffet and one could have eggs cooked to order as well. Everyone who worked there always greeted us with a hello and a smile. Just outstanding service! Thanks to all at Mount Cinnamon for a wonderful stay! Read less

Absolutely loved this resort from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Number 1, it’s strenuous. Absolutely loved this resort from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Number 1, it’s strenuous. Your villa might be at the top of the hill, there are shuttles to take you but they are infrequent and you will 100% feel that you have earned your breakfast, lunch and dinner. So definitely not for the infirm or the unfit. The property is very well kept, there are so many people tending to the gardens, the maintenance and the cleaning of rooms. The food is fabulous but if you are gluten free like me and you are there for a full week, then the options are limited, particularly at breakfast , especially if you are trying to follow a healthy diet. There are beautiful omelettes, bacon, bananas, exotic fruits and fantastic gluten free toast and more, but no cereal. The chef at breakfast was also very odd. All staff ( except for lady chef) are second to none. They are helpful, pleasant and interesting. The beach was incredible, clear sea, white sand and warm waters. Everyone had a sunbed with shade. The entertainment at the beach bonfire night was fabulous! Could not fault the holiday. The grounds of Mount Cinnamon are something else! Shout out for the snorkeling trip and the Grand Etang National Park trip with Paul, our guide. We took taxis to the spice mall, mainly because of the heat but walkable. Lots of Waitrose products and USA products and some French stuff. BBC beach next door, well worth a look and taxi to St George’s to explore, definitely go to the Chocolate House. We wish we had more time! We will return. Read less

We stayed in one of the Cinnamon Suites, which was a really good sized room with wonderful views over the sea and distant St Georges. Beautiful grounds and ocean view suites (we didn’t mind the walk up and down a small hill however if you do they have a service). The perched location is what gives it such beautiful views of the bay and mountains. Garrett is the manager and he is wonderful. Very kind and very accommodating. We were greeted by Garrett and his smiling staff with minty cold towels and rum punches upon arrival. Make sure to visit Janelle with the spa services. We both got deep tissue massages and she was able to work out knots in my back that multiple different masseuses have not been able to before! She is very sweet. Ashton was our driver provided through the resort and he was easy to talk to and informative. He offers tours as well. Raquelle and Cecile were two of our waitresses at Savys and were also very kind and welcoming, always warm and smiling. Everyone would remember and greet us by name. I would ignore any previous reviews complaining of a wait or prices. It makes no sense to me to be blessed to visit a resort on the Caribbean and expect rushed or cheap service. Make sure to stay here if you plan on visiting Grenada! Read less

We will definitely visit again as it was an unforgettable experience. The room was comfortable, and spacious room with a modern design. Our location enabled us to appreciate the breathtaking view of Grand Anse Beach and parts St. George's. The staff was helpful, and the meals were delicious. Overall, we had an amazing stay.
